Uptop has a re-instated commercial well that allows 646,000 gallon feet per year. (New commercial wells only allow 180,000 gallon feet.)

Uptop is warmer in winter than Colorado’s mountainous interior and cooler in summer than the scorching plains. Temperatures fall below freezing only for short spells in winter and daytime temperatures are most often in the 50's and 60's. The area’s big snows come mostly in late spring but melt quickly.
